MSU Community Music School Programs for All Ages

Classes are available for all age groups.

MSU’s Community Music School works to offer music to everyone in the community. In two locations, CMS offers opportunities for the study, appreciation, and therapeutic use of music for those of all ages and abilities. Financial aid is available to those with need.

CMS East Lansing offers private lessons on more than 20 different instruments, more than 15 classes and ensembles, six different summer camps, and music therapy.

CMS Detroit's programs are offered in response to the community's desire for enhanced music education and performance opportunities. The programs are built on the knowledge that exposure to music dramatically enhances learning, life skills, cognitive development, social awareness, and problem solving—all skills that are transferable and necessary in these changing economic times.

At CMS, students and therapy clients are brought together with music professionals who are committed to sharing their extraordinary gifts by offering accessible and affordable music instruction, music therapy, and performance opportunities for all in the community. Financial aid is available to those with need.
