This camp is for students who will be entering 7th and 8th grade in the fall.

This summer camp takes place at the MSU Kellogg Bird Sanctuary in Augusta, Michigan, where campers are able to conduct experiments and utilize the expertise and instruments available to students and faculty at the Biological Station. The theme for 2013 is Go Green! Sustainability for All! The camp will feature:

  • hands-on science from experiments and visits with KBS researchers,
  • field studies to learn about sustainability, conservation, and nutrient cycling,
  • hiking the North Country Trail,
  • conducting a waste audit on the Bird Sanctuary,
  • creating a worm bin,
  • working as a team to provide recommendations to KBS regarding sustainability and conservation of resources.

Thursday night will be an overnight at the Sanctuary (tents and 3 meals will be provided). Of course we’ll also go swimming in Gull Lake, fishing, canoeing along with other camp favorites.
