July 10 - 13, 2017. 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
This camp is available to students in grades 6-8.
Are you intrigued by people’s lives? What they think? Where they’re from? Events that changed them? In this camp, we will be creating photo essays about humans and what makes them—well—human. We will immerse ourselves into the genre of photo essays, how they are written, what captures the reader, the strength of the photo image, what questions are posed to encapsulate the essence of that person, and then create a series of photo essays of our own. Excursions to various destinations on campus will be included as we discover the Humans of MSU. Campers will be working with Elana Waugh and Mary Wilkinson, National Writing Teacher Consultants. Campers are welcome to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to write and compose photo essays. This session is full day, so you should bring snacks and a lunch as well as appropriate footwear for walking around campus.
