Teacher Education Academy

This program is available to students in partnering urban school districts (Lansing, Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Muskegon).
The MSU College of Education's Teacher Education Academy and Kinesiology Academy are highly selective pre-college programs for current 11th graders from our partnering urban school districts. These are FREE one-week residential programs. The programs are intended to increase college preparation and readiness, as well as nurture an interest in careers in education, particularly urban education and Kinesiology.
This program includes:
- Residential experience on the campus of Michigan State University
- Preparation for success in college with classes including pre-college writing and urban education or Kinesiology
- Exploration of prospective careers in education
- Learn about applying for college scholarships, financial aid, and FAFSA
Application requirements:
- Must be a current 11th grade student
- Must have a 3.0 minimum GPA – Transcript Required
- Must have a desire to attend MSU for college and interested in a career in teaching or Kinesiology
- Must answer a 500-word essay prompt
